do you think you know me?
you really think you do
here’s a little story
that I will weave for you

you know me if your thoughtful
you know me if your kind
you know me if you look ahead
instead of just behind

you know me if you tell the truth
you know me if your grateful
you know me if you compromise
instead of choosing hateful

you know me if you think it through
if you use an open mind
you know me if you’re authentic
instead of an axe to grind

but where the waters muddy
unsafe to go and tread
if you’re a liar
and a poser
than things will go unsaid

or if you think you’re better
and if you think you’re cool
then I will shortly see
that you’re nothing but a fool
